WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON ICE?
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
ICE has killed hundreds of people since it was created in 2003. ICE harasses our Latino communities, our workplaces, our hospitals, and schools. They functionally answer only to the president; they spy on us as they cover their faces, and they are rarely accountable for their actions.
ICE’s existence directly conflicts with our constitutional rights.
Violations of immigration law are a civil offense and should be handled through the civil courts, not a brutal and unaccountable police force. I will do everything in my power as a state legislator to protect Utahns from ICE.
WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON DATA CENTERS?
Data Centers should not be built in Utah.
Utah is not a good place for data centers for the following reasons:
✸ We don’t want them here
✸ They consume a lot of energy
✸ They create noise and light pollution
✸ They do not create long-term jobs
✸ They are not worth the tax breaks
I support pausing all development of data centers until we can pass laws that will protect the environment and the will of local Utahns.
DO YOU TAKE AIPAC MONEY?
No. I would not.
AIPAC typically gives only to federal candidates, regardless, I would not accept their money. While the legislature does not control foreign policy, I would support efforts to repeal laws that require companies contracting with the state to provide a written certification that it is not currently engaged in a boycott of Israel.
The legislature should focus improving the lives of Utahns, not supporting a country committing genocide.
WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON FLOCK CAMERAS?
High-tech A.I. cameras like those of Flock Safety should be banned from our state.
Flock Safety is a powerful network of cameras that tracks, logs, and shares your movements with the federal government.
This database allows local police officers to bypass the typical warrant process required by the 4th amendment to track people.
There have been countless cases of this power being abused, and I believe Flock cameras substantiate mass surveillance.
